Counselors
Staff Testimonial:
“The best part about this camp is that every single person involved is there for the kids. Where else could you find dozens of adults literally making fools of themselves so that kids can experience the joy God offers us?”

Why Be a Counselor at Grace Adventures Day Camp?
We’re all about excellence here at Grace Adventures. From our staff to our program, we strive to provide the best, in a fun and safe environment. Each counselor chosen to be on our team becomes part of the camp family. We sweat together, we play together, and we pray together. As a counselor at GADC, you’ll be given the amazing opportunity to pour into your group of 6-10 campers through a variety of fun activities. Most importantly, though, you are a light in these kids lives. Through your actions more than your words, you’ll have an impact that surpasses the events of the day, the week, or even the summer.
What are specialties & what would be my role in them?
Specialties are exclusive to our Day Camp (completed K – 5th grades). Campers choose one of 5 specialties to “major” in throughout the week. If you are a day camp counselor, you will also be a specialty counselor. Twice a day each day, you will disperse your core group of campers and receive a new group that is specific to your assigned specialty. Our specialties are sports, art/drama, cheerleading/tumbling, outdoor exploration, and a sampler. We will seek to hire day camp counselors who have experience in at least one of these areas.
What’s the Time Commitment?
This summer, we are offering two weeks of Taste of Camp, a half-day camp, to run concurrent with 5 full weeks of camp. We ask our counselors to commit to one week of training prior to Taste Of Camp and 4 out of the 5 weeks of camp. (Although, counselors are more than welcome to work all five weeks.) Training is paid and includes CPR/First Aid certification as well as general counselor training and campground prep. If you are unable to make the CPR/First Aid day, you will be required to acquire certification on your own.
What’s the Pay like?
We realize your time is valuable, and we value our counselors, and because of that, we are one of the highest paying camps in the area. Our counselors start off making $300 a week. Returning counselors get an automatic raise, as well as coordinators & directors.
What Do I Need to do to Apply?
Submit an application by either emailing it to graceadventures@gcconline.org or by mail to 8200 Old Columbia Rd, Fulton, MD 20759. Once we’ve received your application, we’ll contact you for an interview, in person if possible. We may ask that you participate in multiple interviews so we can better assess your best fit here at Grace Adventures Day Camp. Once the interview process has concluded, we will contact references and possibly offer the position. We are required by law to perform background checks on all staff and volunteers. Once that check comes back clear, you will officially be part of the GADC family.
What is the application deadline?
We start hiring in December and stop hiring when all of our spaces have been filled. We ask that all applications be received by April 15th. We hire based on current enrollment numbers.
